BLAYDON completed the double over Tynedale yesterday when a 13- 11 home win gave them their fourth successive win in National One.
With heavy rain falling for most of the match, there was no score in the second half, when fly half Gavin Beasley missed a penalty for Tynedale.
He had kicked two to give his side the lead after Adam Armstrong found the target for Blaydon, but then the hosts scored a try when they were down to 14 men.
Flanker Kerry Wood had been sin-binned, but his former Westoe team-mate James Fitzpatrick made a break in the centre and came back inside to find Director of Rugby Tom Rock in support for the try.
Armstrong converted, but Tynedale went back in front when Andrew Murray finished a series of pick-and-drives.
His brother Jamie was yellow-carded just before halftime, but although Armstrong missed the penalty he had slotted one moments earlier and it proved to be the winning kick.
Westoe defied quagmire conditions to earn their third successive win in National Two, beating visitors Huddersfield 25-10.
After volunteers spent the morning forking the pitch, Westoe scored after two minutes. Winger Chris Clark burst away and linked with full back Chris Judson, who sent centre Mark Olugbode over.
Fake Spazio24 Charlie Rayner converted, but Huddersfield levelled then went 10- 7 ahead before Westoe capitalised on playing downhill in the second half.
Rayner kicked penalties either side of a strong forward drive setting up a try for Clark, then Judson crowned his fine performance with the final Pandora Beads Wholesale try of the game.
Middlesbrough moved into fifth place in National Three North when they came back from 8-0 down to win 11-8 at home to Rossendale.
The visitors dominated for the first 20 minutes and scored a good try through their fly half then added a penalty.
Boro were starting to get on top when scrum half Peter Wright finished off good work by the forwards just before half-time.
Rossendale then faded and Jack Bircham kicked penalties after 55 and 71 minutes to seal Boro's win.
Billingham went back to the top of North Two East with a 27-17 win at Driffield, although title rivals Sandal have a game in hand after their match at Durham City was again postponed.
The large band of Billingham supporters enjoyed the excellent facilities at Driffield, as well as a game which produced fine attacking rugby from both sides.
Driffield missed three penalties before Peter Evans put Billingham ahead with a penalty after 15 minutes and they surged well clear at half-time after the home side picked up two yellow cards.
Andy Garbutt struck twice in two minutes from distance, with Evans slotting both conversions.
Evans added another penalty before Paul Shepherd went over within two minutes of the restart, but at 27-0 Billingham allowed Driffield back into the game.
After a try in the corner they would have scored again but for Joe Evans tackling in the try area. It was then Billingham's turn to receive two yellow cards, but they were never in danger, despite Driffield scoring two more tries Hartlepool Rovers remain third, but are now ten points adrift of Sandal as their loss of form continued with a 1614 defeat at Old Crossleyans
